We sat down with a Secret Trail Fairy to talk about her love for the sport, her passion and inspiration for building trails as well as the challenges and thoughts that go into her work that’s hidden away in the forest. Of course, in contrast to former guests Greg Jolliffe or Dominik Bosshard, the Secret Trail Fairy operates in a grey area of the rules and that’s why she chose to remain anonymous. This episode was inspired by a similar episode of the excellent Single Trails and Single Malt Podcast and the Secret Trail Fairy approached us to do something similar for Switzerland. Of course, we were happy to oblige and it was interesting to hear her perspective on sustainability, “trail parenting”, the frustrations of working with local authorities, as well as some of the trails that get her excited despite her not being involved in the dig. We pick up on diversity in trail building, get an alternative view on recent official trail projects and learn how better coordination between trail users can help in avoiding conflicts out in the forest.
